This is a seascape painting rendered in oils for a change! I wanted to capture the vibrant summer colours of the greens and blues of the sea and landscape and the overall feeling of the sun shining down on this lovely little harbour that wouldn't look out of place in the West of Ireland
Sometimes my interest is piqued and I like to research some of my painting subjects, especially Dublin street scenes and pubs and bars and am often amazed at some of the snippets of curious information I come across. Follow this link to read one or two about Coliemore Harbour ...

This is a seascape painting of a lovely little harbour just outside Dalkey, County Dublin, that wouldnt seem out of place in Connemara! I deliberately cropped the scene to focus on the boats, harbour and Dalkey Island in the distance. Apparently Coliemore was one of the harbours through which the Great Plague entered Ireland in the Middle Ages! I used vibrant acrylic blues and greens in the sky and sea to give a bright summery feel to the picture.
